Heather Valdez, LCSW has been a consultant to nonprofit agencies since 2014. She primarily focuses on providing consultation to nonprofits working on mental health, community health, and those focusing on LGBTQIA+ populations. She specifically provides consultation including fund development in the form of grant writing to obtain foundation, county, state and federal contracts, in addition to program development, committee development, strategic planning, training and other special projects. She has had a superior success rate on small to multi-million dollar grants and contracts. She is also a co-founder of Sage Institute, an Oakland-based nonprofit agency that offers various programming including mental health, training and education, and research.
